Chess Boxing Rules:
Two competitors play alternating rounds of chess and boxing. The competition starts with a round of chess, followed by a round of boxing alternating back and forth. A full contest consists of 11 rounds – 6 rounds of chess and 5 boxing.
Boxing rounds take 3 minutes. Between rounds there is a one-minute pause for competitors to change their gear.
The competition is decided by – checkmate - exceeding the time limit (chess round) – retirement of an opponent in either chess or boxing round.
If the chess match ends in a stalemate, the competitor with the higher score in boxing wins. In a case of a tie, the one with the black piece wins.
World Champion Chess Boxer:
Frank Stoldt, a 37 year old German wins the title of World Champion Chess Boxer beating out David ‘Double D’ Depto (USA) in Berlin.
